As this is the award for the Best Family Law Firm – Essex, we will now take a look at Damian Clancy LL.B (Hons) MCIArb who is a solicitor/partner and head of the family department. Damian was admitted as a solicitor in 2000. Damian deals with all aspects of Family Law including: divorce, nullity and separation (including same sex) and financial matters arising out of divorce/civil partnership (same sex) dissolution. He is also very competent in drafting separation agreements and pre and post-nuptial agreements as well as final orders by consent on financial matters arising out of divorce. Damian’s other areas of expertise lie in assisting clients to secure injunctions under Part IV of the Family Law Act 1996 – non-molestation and occupation orders; Children Act 1989 proceedings including applications for child arrangement orders (previously contact/residence), parental responsibility as well as financial applica- tions under the Children Act 1989. Damian also has considerable experience in advising on areas involving international child abduction. He is also a keen advocate and often attends at court with clients on all manner of hearings to maintain consistency for his clients. Damian is also an Accredited Specialist with Resolution in Advanced Financial Provision, Children Law Private and Domestic Abuse. Damian also sits on the Essex Family Justice Board. In 2015 Damian qualified under the Family Law Arbitration Scheme and is a qualified arbitrator and is a firm believer that not all disputes need to proceed through the courts and is a keen advocate on alternative dispute resolution. In his spare time, Damian likes travelling, cinema, cycling and has worked with Crisis for the Homeless during their annual Crisis for Christmas campaign.
