Acquisition International - Leading Advisers 2018 41 1805AI10 Acquisition Internatio al - Issu 5 3 Glass & Robson, LLC was founded by two lawyers who shared a vision of forming an elite Atlanta personal injury trial practice firm that operates with a unique objective designed to obtain extraordinary results for our clients. We invited Robert F. Glass, AI’s Leading Personal Injury Litigator of the Year in Georgia, to tell us more about the extensive services that the firm offers. hen Robert F. Glass and James A. Robson formed their Atlanta personal injury firm, they envisioned a small Atlanta, Georgia firm, selective in the cases they undertook, and almost the exact opposite of what ordinary citizens see on billboards and personal injury attorney television advertisements. Robert starts off the discussion by telling us more about the firm, the work the partners take on and the typical clientele that the firm work with. He also details his own services and what particular aspects of the legal industry excite him the most. “As an experienced lawyer, I represent people who have been catastrophically injured or killed by the negligence of others. Our firm handled a wide variety of negligence matters, ranging from tractor-trailer wrecks to product liability cases to business tort cases. My law partner and I come from a defence background and work exceedingly hard to prepare every case for a jury trial. We leap at the opportunity to try a case to a jury and believe our willingness and track record in doing so greatly increases the value we provide to our clients.” Working on predominantly negligence cases, it is vital that Robert and James adopt a careful and considered approach when taking on a new client. Robert comments on what techniques the team employs in order to ensure that the outcome of the project will meet the needs of everyone involved. “Everything we do from the initiation of a new matter is aimed towards preparing the case for litigation and trial. Most of our new clients have recently been seriously injured in a motor vehicle collision or other traumatic incident and are actively seeking significant medical treatment. Our goal at the outset of a new matter is to gather all potential evidence from reporting agencies such as 911 calls, witness statements, and key evidence to begin building the case for litigation and trial. Our strategy for business matters is more tailored to evidence preservation.” Company: Robert F. Glass, Esq. We are selective in the cases we handle and do not operate a ‘volume; type advertising firm that we all see so frequently on television.” With the team developing a strategy which has so far seen them achieve overwhelming success, Robert and James have kept up-to-date with the developments within the industry. Providing us with his own thoughts on the state of the industry currently, Robert describes the particular changes which are having an effect on the sector. “The state of the plaintiff personal injury practice is always subject to legislative restriction on the state and national level, and its aim is to restrict an injured person’s ability to recover from a negligent person or entity. It is a challenge that all plaintiff lawyers are aware of, but not all contribute to political opposition to counter and defeat such measures to protect all citizens’ right to a trial by jury.” In his concluding comments, Robert signs off by outlining what attributes have been essential to the success of Glass & Robson, as well as what challenges and opportunities the team has faced which have affected his role. “In order to succeed within the legal industry, staff and lawyers must work hard, persevere in every aspect of the case they take on and be able to tolerate risk. Crucially, good lawyers and firms must pay great attention to detail and receive an element of good luck. “High-stakes litigation always comes with significant challenges and opportunities. We have been lucky at a relatively young age to have successfully handled high-profile cases, whilst we have also handled more challenging cases and have learned the importance of perseverance when the case was lost despite our best efforts.” “Crucially, good lawyers and firms must pay great attention to detail and receive an element of good luck.” Leading Personal Injury Litigator of the Year, Georgia
