James P Bradley, a Partner based in the Bangkok branch of Hunton Andrews Kurth, works with the Energy and Infrastructure team based there which has vast experience in projects using the key power generation resources of Asia, be they natural gas, wind, coal, solar, hydro, or geothermal, and in energy storage projects, including pumped hydro and battery. The team aims to provide high quality advice and engages in projects that draw on deep experience and market awareness within various jurisdictions, analyzing all phases of a project and understanding equity and debt financing considerations in structuring and analyzing project documents and risks. This also includes operating in coordination with local counsels across the Southeast Asian jurisdictions in which Hunton Andrews Kurth carries out a significant proportion of their projects. James himself specializes in advising on matters concerning cross- border development, financing, construction, and operation of electric power plants, and boasts experience in the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia, as well as in Lao PDR, Vietnam, and Indonesia. James tells us, “a significant part of my practice has involved assisting with construction issues and challenges including enforcement and leading into assistance with arbitration in coordination with other firm practices also focusing on construction arbitration. Building Success key clients. James explains, “I have been advising the Quezon Power Project on Luzon Island in the Philippines since 2001 with the firm’s representation going back to 1998 or so. Through our longstanding representations of the equity participants, we were engaged to do the EPCC, O&M, and financing work for the 63 MW (AC) utility-scale solar project in Lopburi Province, Thailand, owned by Natural Energy Development Co., Ltd.”. In recent months, others within James team in Energy and Infrastructure have also been engaged in M&A and lender-side work, primarily within the renewable energy sector.
