The field revolves around fair play, ensuring that consumers have some degree of protection and that companies are limited in how they can operate their business. A lack of regulation can lead to a monopoly forming, which is bad for everyone involved. When Mr. Deiss entered the legal sector, he couldn’t have known where it would take him. Humble beginnings at the University of Chicago Law School saw him published in the University of Chicago Law Review, University of Chicago Legal Forum and the University of Chicago Roundtable. From here, Mr. Deiss became a partner at Jones Waldo Holbrook and McDonough in Salt Lake City and eventually formed his own business. Mr. Deiss’ work has covered a range of different activities, with his two decades of litigation and trial experience affording him a great deal of freedom to operate. His career has been highly varied. While focusing on the field of anti-trust and competition law, he has represented plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court criminal, civil and appellate matters. With such a specialist subject, it’s not surprising that Deiss Law PC has taken on some of the most complex cases in the field, including acting as counsel for the largest private operator of health care facilities in the world in litigation over a non-competition agreement, including claims for breach of fiduciary duty. The result in this case was a favorable settlement for the client. Similarly, the team have defended an individual and a company in cases alleging claims including breach of non-competition agreement, passing off, claims of copyright violations, theft of trade secrets, passing off, tortious interference, and breach of duty of loyalty. These successes are thanks, in no small part, to the expertise that Mr. Deiss is able to bring to every case. The diverse range of issues has allowed Mr. Deiss to represent some of Utah’s largest companies, as well as Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies in diverse litigation matters. It’s a sign of his considerable expertise in the field that he has been called upon to apply his considerable skill to a host of different challenges. Some of the work that Mr. Deiss has undertaken has been incredibly influential in higher courts, with one of his numerous articles in his specialist field being cited by the Supreme Court on two separate occasions.
