Ensuring those standards are met, both in the execution and in the regulation of the industry, is always a challenge. Samuel Crevel of Racine has been named Leading Agricultural and Agri-Business Lawyer of the Year, France for his work in the field. We look more closely to find out more. t’s not often that the AI team get to dig into the work of an agricultural specialist, but closer examination of Mr. Crevel’s history has revealed a man who has tried tirelessly to achieve a level playing field for all concerned. Mr. Crevel has spent much of his career as a lawyer of considerable renown, gaining a Masters in Private Law from the Université de Caen in 1992 and studying at the École nationale de la magistrature between 1990 and 1993. By the time he joined the talented team at Racine, he has held a position as Auxiliary judge in the French Court of Cassation, been Deputy Director in the Real Estate Bureau at the Ministry of Justice and had finally acted as Head of the Bureau of Farms, Rural Development and the Environment in the Ministry of Agriculture. This considerable expertise in the field has made Mr. Crevel into a recognised expert in agriculture law, with much of his day-to-day work consisting of helping operators in this sector. This covers a range of different people, from farmers to co-operatives to merchants to landowners. Each has their own story to tell, and Mr. Crevel’s job is to find the one which ensures compliance in all aspects of the production and sale of food-products. Some of the more frequent cases that Mr. Crevel has been involved in recently have revolved around farming rights, such as rural leases, monitoring of farming structures as well as the structuring and transfers of farming operations. He has also been called upon to advise forest owners with respect to the management of their property.
