Following their success in winning the Most Outstanding Design Build Company award, we caught up with the firm’s director, Genevieve Wells to find out more this local architecture firm based in Surrey in the UK. hat products and services does your firm provide? We deal with residential architecture, anything from a small extension up to a new build of up to 100 houses at any one time. We have won multiple awards for our work, such as The Most Innovative Designers and The Best Design and Construction Company, The Best Female Entrepreneur, The Best Business of the Year and many more. Your work in design really stands out; can you tell me more about this? Yes, we are really passionate about what we do, indeed the staff here have technical backgrounds with them being chartered architectural technologists, but we do have a design flair which is a unique selling point for us. What does your client base look like? Anything ranging from a private individual client, such as from a £50,000 to a £300,000 extension, but on the commercial side we work with developers such as Taylor Wimpey, Persimmons; Millgate Homes and many more. What are the main challenges facing your company now and in the future? The challenges coming up are in relation to actual build costs, indeed we are looking at different construction methods and techniques, such as timber frames, but due to building control requirements we are always aware of sustainable design and the question is to what level do we take it? That being said, the minimum level is set to a very high standard, and we are looking at different types of renewable energy, so the end goal is to reduce our consumers’ energy costs. What business or business person do you most admire and why? I admire my previous boss, who is a very good friend of mine, because of his extreme amount of energy, passion, charisma and skill. He has taught me so much and helped me a lot at the beginning of my career. Is there anything you want to add in closing? I’m only as good as my team. We are a tight knit family, and we love coming to work, and training the team definitely pays off. We all have to do a minimum of 35 hours per year of continuing professional development (CPD), and we are constantly training and keeping on top of the latest innovations, systems, materials and techniques, it is what keeps us fresh, young and trendy.
