We caught up with the firm’s Founder, Colin Jones who provided us with a detailed glimpse into the innerworkings of the award-winning company. ince their inception, the team at emdash Software Ltd have been on a mission to provide a simpler way of managing complex applications. This means being able to install, configure update and customise enterprise scale systems in a standard, repeatable way. Today, emdash Software Ltd’s software provides users with a standard and efficient way to manage these applications through their development lifecycle by creating and managing ‘environments’ to give a controlled framework for system implementation projects. Going into further detail, Colin begins by informing us more about the various areas the company specialises in. “Here at emdash Software Ltd, we specialise in the management of C/ETRM (Commodities/Energy Trading and Risk Management) applications and have worked with some of the leading companies in the industry to manage their application inventory. In addition to this, we are best known for our work with the Openlink suite of applications and provide the tools to our joint customers to minimise the risks associated with poor quality implementation and upgrade projects. Our ethos of simplifying and automating complex tasks provide a stable foundation for making systems change.” Motivating the firm to go above and beyond with their services, are their clients who drive emdash Software Ltd in everything they do. The team strive to ensure that any and all specific requirements are thoroughly understood and represented in their approach, tools and processes. In turn, these aspects are improved and refined by the breadth of their customer base. They actively listen to feedback to improve the products that our customers use, and how the wider customer-base can benefit. “In addition to this, our team are experienced professionals who have been through countless systems implementation projects, and know the pitfalls and risks associated with making IT changes. This experience is baked into our software products and methodology.” Building A Stable Foundation S 2019 has already been a significant year in the emdash Software Ltd’s career, as the firm saw their clients begin to embrace Cloud technology for their infrastructure, which looks set to continue well into 2020. In addition to this, the firm will be using their software to provision a set of ‘elastic’ environments as demand fluctuates across development and upgrade projects means that infrastructure, that was once a costly capital investment, becomes a smaller operational cost. Also, it ensures that customers are able to keep their infrastructure updated, without costly hardware replacement. Moving forward, the firm already have plans to keep refining their software to provide a simpler way to utilise the Cloud platform, and are also developing a new suite of products to monitor and manage them. Colin signs off by revealing a little bit more about the firm’s latest products which they are due to launch. “Looking ahead, we are set to launch a new product which will provide customers with an application-specific monitoring dashboard, bringing our experience of running these complex applications into a single pane of glass to report on the ’health’ of the application. We think this would be extremely valuable to all of our customers that run these applications but specifically those businesses that do not want to invest so heavily in a large IT support organisation. Again, it will help to put the business user in control of their IT.” Although the London based firm work alongside customers who are predominately located in the UK and Europe, the team at emdash Software Ltd hope to further expand their presence in the years to come by looking to develop their business to provide a more global offering. Ultimately, they are interested in finding likeminded companies in North America / Asia to partner with in the future.
