30 Acquisition International - Global Excellence 2020 1 Issue 10 2020 Innovation Starts With Your Company Culture If a company wants to not only see success, but see success in the long term, it needs to be adaptable. Constant reflection, improvement and adaptation are key. One company that embodies this ethos from the ground up and stands as a perfect example to us all is Business IT. The entire company has innovation baked into its foundations. We spoke to President and CEO Boris Arciniegas to find out more about the company’s principles of adaptability. e live in a quickly changing and unpredictable world. 2020 has seen extreme global changes to the way we carry out business and the way that work gets done on a daily basis. Any company that relies heavily on traditional or immutable practices and are unable to adapt could easily fall behind. Business IT have formed an art of remaining adaptable and innovative. Based in Ecuador, this team of over 150 first-rate professionals provides high-tech services across several Latin America countries. This team is so highly thought of by the CEO, Boris Arciniegas that he refers to them as “warriors”. These warriors are at the heart of the company’s agile and adaptive approach to business. Each team member understands that the only way to sustain the company’s top-level performance over a long period of time is to keep creating disruptive solutions. This is beautifully summed up in the company’s mantra: “If you want to go fast, go it alone. If you want to go far, go as a team.” Business IT have rigorous recruitment policies that help to keep innovation as part of the company culture from the ground up. They recruit new employees through recommendations or references from their current collaborators. Before they even see a CV or cover letter, they have an idea of who the applicant is. They seek to employ those deemed to be both good people and good professionals. This approach, according to Arciniegas, is key to continuing to innovate and deliver a wide coverage of services. Each day, Business IT faces off against multinational powerhouses. These larger organisations gradually scale in efficiency and predictability. The cumbersome managerial structures in these large companies make it hard to implement internal changes. Business IT take experimentation to a new level. They hypothesise, experiment and optimise themselves internally, leading to greater growth and accomplishments. In recent months, Business IThave seen an accelerated transformation of their clients’ business models and have accelerated their own practices to stay ahead. Whereas before the global pandemic, they would update their portfolio with new services once every three months, they now update it every three weeks. For instance, they are launching a whole new Cybersecurity offer implemented on world- class platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. Of course, growth can be measured in ways other than simply looking at the bottom line. Nowadays, companies grow and progress by proving that they are responsible corporations. Business IT provides W Aug20004 a service called Green IT. Through it, they help their customers digitally transform, improving productivity, bolstering efficiency and reducing operational costs. Crucially, it works in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. It all comes down to the nucleus of the company: innovation. Pushing the boundaries. Business IT aims to move faster and change faster than their competition. They strategically monitor their competitors, determining changes to their services and portfolios, and move to out-manoeuvre them. It’s an aggressive approach to business development that may seem brash to a more stagnant, traditional company, but it is a breath of fresh air to the industry. Over the next quarter, Business IT will begin providing their “My Virtual Office” telework service, a virtual workspace that automates administrative processes, such as human resources and document management. This service, and the company itself, is definitely one to watch out for.
