As senior partner in the firm, I have recently been encouraged to see a new breed of entrepreneurs actively seeking our advice, attracted by our two young tax counsel. These young partners work very much hands-on with their clients, and aim to thoroughly understand their business. This gives them the opportunity to learn more about the daily work of financial advisers, rather than just the accounting, bank or tax sides. This, together with our large Austrian network, is the basis for the growth of our company. Profile of Dr. Fritz Kleiner My professional plans are to move further in the direction of arbitration tribunals and expert advice, where I can apply my experience of more than 40 years in business in economic disputes. I have taught my partners to keep in mind that financial statements and their results are only the starting point for solving problems in national and international taxation. The question of taxation is not the principal or final end of a discussion, but should be examined together with company structures, company connections and the variations of national and international markets and business. To work as a tax counsel in Austria or abroad, one has to know the basics of European tax law, company law and the financial backgrounds of companies outside Austria, including the wide and complex range of banking services in the EU. This leads our profession far beyond simply drawing up financial statements, book-keeping or questions of accountancy. We believe there is much more to tax consultation than drawing up financial statements and explaining them to clients. Winning the nomination for the Best in National and International Tax Matters award for 2017, was an honour and an unexpected surprise.
