44 Acquisition International - Issue 1 2018 Paul Lanois is a seasoned global privacy, data protection and information security expert. Recently, Paul won our Acquisition Intl. 2017 Global Excellence Awards as the In-House Legal Counsel of the Year accolade. To celebrate his success, we took the opportunity to profile his marvellous work on technology law. aul Lanois is a global privacy, data protection and information security expert and is an attorney admitted to the Bars of the District of Columbia (DC-USA), New York (NY-USA) and the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). On a regular basis, Paul publishes articles on technology law and is frequently invited to speak on such topics. He has spoken at numerous conferences across Europe, the United States and Asia. His views have been noted in diverse publications and media outlets in relation to privacy, data protection and technology-related matters. In 2016, he was named a ‘Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Trailblazer’ by the National Law Journal and an ‘Innovative Corporate Counsel’ by Law 360. He was recognised as a leading lawyer in The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist and was awarded the 2017 Advocacy Award from the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). Also, Paul is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT). He also holds the following information security certifications: CCSK, PCIP, SSCP, CISMP. He is currently senior legal counsel at Credit Suisse. Alongside this, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Cergy-Pontoise in France and an associate at major international law firms (Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Allen & Overy and Linklaters). He graduated from the University of Paris-Sorbonne (France), with a Master’s degree in Business Law and a postgraduate degree in Private and Public Economic Law. Lastly, Paul holds an LL.M. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School (USA) and a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania.
