She experienced the very real struggle that many graduates face in securing a contract in London and qualifying as a solicitor. The Law Society’s annual statistics reported in 2017 that, although women currently make up around 50% of all solicitors with practising certificates, only 6% of women make up the firm’s partners. Saba strongly believes that change has to come from within, so following two years of being partner in the firm she trained in, Wimbledon Solicitors, Saba applied for an exemption from Rule 13 (which requires three years PQE to supervise) and set up her own legal firm, JS Solicitors, in December 2016. The firm now boasts three branches across the capital city, and also grants training contracts of its own. Saba is also camp aligning to change the world for women everywhere, not just within the legal sector. She is certified as a scheme member, recognised by the Law society of England and Wales, in Immigration and Asylum and Personal Injury. She deals with a lot of cases of domestic violence involving practising Muslims who are brainwashed into believing that they are not victims and merely conforming to a way of life, which can be a frustrating endeavour due to the restrictions on women within the Islamic religion. This has led to Saba addressing Theresa May’s Sharia Law Review Panel in July of last year in an attempt to advocate change and in order to raise awareness for suffering women.
