Acquisition International - Issue 3 2021 13 Clear Vision Martin’s Eyecare is an independent optometry clinic in Glenorchy, Southern Tasmania, that has built an outstanding reputation for going above and beyond in eyecare for patients of all ages. A small, family-centric eye clinic, Martin’s nonetheless boasts cutting-edge technology and premium eyewear and products to ensure its patients receive the very best in treatment and maintenance solutions for their eye health. s one of only three independent solo practices in Southern Tasmania, Martin’s Eyecare is a leading optometry clinic that has the autonomy to truly go the extra mile in the care of patients’ eyes. Providing services that are often omitted from traditional or mainstream clinics for being too complex or expensive, Martin’s provides tailored, comprehensive care for the whole family. Established in its current site at the heart of the Glenorchy shopping precinct since 2009, the clinic was founded by Martin Robinson, who is driven by the philosophy that ‘prevention is better than the cure’. As such, Martin has dedicated his career to promoting regular, thorough eye examinations for the maintenance of healthy eyes and sight, so as to avoid the devastating impacts that major loss of vision has on so many lives. As a family-focused firm, the clinic welcomes patients of all ages, from babies to the elderly, from all backgrounds and with all manner of eye conditions. Recognising that each patient is unique, Martin’s is able to tailor its testing and care around the needs of its clients and accepts referrals from GPs, as well as other optometry and ophthalmology clinics, who recognise Martin’s advanced eyecare capabilities and expertise, that sets the clinic apart in a competitive industry. For instance, the clinic recently acquired a premium dry eye treatment from Lumenis, an M22 Intense Pulsed Light designed to treat Dry Eye Disease, a complex condition that requires efficient and detailed diagnosis and treatment. The challenges of this condition were further compounded during the early stages of the ongoing pandemic, as access to such treatment was restricted, hence Martin’s decision to invest in the world-class device. The clinic also invests in imported frames and sunglasses, unusual contact lens fittings, Australian- made lenses, and a variety of other treatments and apparatus that require complex and costly equipment, stock and trial fitting sets. Whilst many more profit-focused companies tend to forgo these assets, Martin’s prefers to invest in the equipment that will enable stronger delivery in eyecare. Another recent acquisition to enhance the Martin’s patient experience is the clinic’s newest team member, Larry Ford, the optical dispenser who has seamlessly joined the team that Martin relies on to uphold the standard for family-friendly excellence which has been cultivated over the years. A happy, friendly team that supports one another and takes an individual yet cohesive approach to customer service, Martin’s has established itself as a champion of both eyecare and patient care. Despite the ongoing pandemic, the high standards in service have not faltered. Indeed, the small size of the clinic have enabled it to adapt with agility, working hard and successfully ensuring that its clients have remained confident in the knowledge that their eyecare continues to be safe in reliable hands. Whilst 2021 is shaping up to be just as uncertain for businesses as 2020 was before it, Martin remains positive about the talent and drive of his team, which has brought success to the clinic even its most challenging year yet. Whatever 2021 may throw at us, the people of Glenorchy, Southern Tasmania can rest assured that Martin’s has the best interests of them and their eye health at heart.
