Acquisition International - Issue 3 2021 23 Pioneers Of Alternative Energy and 30% cheaper. An independent numerical model carried out by the Department of Naval Architecture at the University of Strathclyde confirmed the stability in operation and installation of the technology through hydrodynamic analysis, confirming that, ‘the Axis TLB™ system shows excellent dynamic properties under both operational and extreme conditions, and can survive the harshest environmental conditions in the North Sea.’ It is an exciting step forwards in Axis’ evolution in correlation with developments in the Offshore energy industry, enabling the commencement of a pre-FEED study with a view to building a prototype full scale demonstrator, which is scheduled to be installed in the UKCS towards the end of 2023. However, with the impacts of Covid-19 impeding the project approval process, Axis is simultaneously focusing on ensuring its projects continue to run seamlessly with as minimal disruption as possible, despite inevitable delays. In the meantime, Axis continues to prioritise the cost- effectiveness of its solutions, developing solutions that are robust yet affordable, and able to be delivered all over the world. Axis is in the midst of a promising phase of evolution within an exciting industry that is seeing rapid growth and interest. As it continues to innovate and make significant progressions in offshore technology, Axis will no doubt be one to watch in the energy revolution.
