A key part of the publication’s team, Faridah Kakyama is a Specialist consultant in the Financial Services sector specialising in Finance, Pensions and Investment. She has worked in this sector for over 16 years after attaining her master’s degree in United Kingdom majoring in “MSc Financial Aspects in Decision Making”. She took up her first role at Legal and General Assurance Ltd in United Kingdom. Faridah has extensive knowledge and experience in the above fields at a very high level together with financial reporting, pension fund Accounts, Pensions and Retirement Benefits administration, Life Assurance an Investment strategies. A revolutionary from the beginning, in 2016 she was one of the members invited to the parliament- House of Lords in London to be part of Scrutiny live with other members and the housing representatives from the parliament. Her views about allocation of resources and funds were listened to and taken on. Later, in November 2015 she founded the Financial Service Consulting company Evolutions Pension Benefit Services Ltd and that same year she started writing and published her first magazine Pension Focus covering pensions, financial aspects and Investment strategies in Africa. It was the first general pension magazine to be issued in Uganda and covering the whole of Africa and providing International Pension updates across the globe. Currently she specialises in Consulting Chattered Pension Analyst Management and Finance in Nairobi, Kampala, UAE, Dubai and Europe, supporting Pension Focus to provide up-to-the-minute editorial and insight into this complicated market. Faridah Kakyama: Passionate About Pensions Despite being a relatively young company, Pension Focus has achieved incredible success thanks to its unique service offering, which is almost unheard of in the African pensions market, as well as its committed and knowledgeable team. Working together they have driven Pension Focus to the success it enjoys today. The publication has, over the years, gained international recognition for its dedication to excellence. In 2017 Pension Focus Africa Magazine won the Best Pension Journalist of the Year Award in East and Central Africa and in 2018 it won the AI global award in UK for Best African Journalist of the Year, and in 2018 the Pension Focus Africa Magazine won the Ai Global Media Award for the Business Excellence Award 2018. Ultimately, Pension Focus has a diverse service offering which utilises its team’s vast experience in the pensions space. Moving forward, the firm is keen to expand into new markets and, eventually, to start running and operating its own pension funds. This will lead the team to exploring investment strategies to maintain and expand these funds.
