David began his journey towards legal excellence in 1984, following successful graduation from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Just two years later in 1986, David then enrolled at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, before achieving his jurisprudence degree in Law in Nov19544 E 1989. In the years following this achievement, he formed his first law firm, David A. Fernandez & Associates, P.C., where he worked primarily in civil law with an emphasis on tort and consumer litigation. Those years between 1992 and 2002 were a fitting testament to just how well David had performed during his time at university. He built a solid reputation in that field of litigation, as client representation continued to rise yearly. By 1994, the firm was handling over two hundred clients per year, and reached its peak in 1999 when there were more than seven hundred clients throughout the year. Amongst his many successes, David settled one particular personal injury case in 1996 for a grand total of 4.1 million dollars; a case that Thurgood Marshall himself would have been proud of. At the height of his firm’s success in 2002, David then sold the law practice, instead choosing to pursue his life’s dream of exploring his heritage and ancestry. Until 2006, he travelled and lived in Mexico, where he studied at the International University at Cuernavaca and chose to volunteer at the local IMSS Hospital. Going beyond Mexico, David also ventured to Peru where he was a volunteer English teacher in one of the local grammar schools in Cusco, before journeying on to Venezuela, Spain, France, and England. After soul-searching and helping those less fortunate than himself, David eventually returned to Houston in 2006 with the aim of continuing his exceptional work with people. Back in Texas, David founded Debt Elimination Specialists, a company that focused on restructuring consumer and commercial debt. However, it wasn’t to last. So David returned to his legal profession, setting up The Law Offices of David A. Fernandez in 2009, and has not looked back since. Many of his previous clients followed him in this new venture, and he has seen great success working with them.
