She shares with us her thoughts on being included in the Most Highly Regarded Expert Witnesses 2017 awards, plus her opinions on the most pressing issue facing her industry today. “It is extremely humbling to be recognised for my achievements and work in the field. The award is a validation of my and the firm’s competency, work ethic, attention to detail, plus how we provide services and excellent customer service. “The most pressing issue today facing a company today is an experienced workforce, enforcement of contractor safety and fall protection. “An increasing number of cases today are being filed for worker injury, even though compensation has already been paid to the worker. An expert is therefore needed to level the playing field and educate as to the standards that apply to the case concerned. Without a competent expert, the case can become chaotic and confusing to a jury.” Dr. McCartney then provides a fascinating insight about her work and unique knowledge of many industry sectors. “I started in the oil and gas industry back in 1979, as a wellsite geologist and was one of the first women permitted to work in the field. I can therefore provide a unique insight into the oil and gas industry, as I started at the bottom and worked my way up to management and then to an expert. I have technical and historical knowledge in: construction, telecommunications, utilities, manufacturing, food processing & distribution, oil and gas exploration & production and property management. While Dr. McCartney cannot comment on any notable provided expert witness she has worked on due to confidentiality orders, she highlights in closing that her clients are most pleased with her work.
