We spoke to CEO, Omar Hammoud as we looked to gain further insight into the company’s achievements. ounded in 2006, APG-Neuros is recognized as the force behind the successful introduction of the high- efficiency turbo blower technology to the water and wastewater treatment market in North America and Europe, modernizing and bringing a much-needed change to the existing aging industry. APG-Neuros places emphasis on technical competency, high product quality, product demonstration and delivering excellent customer service. The firm achieved widespread acceptance of its high-speed air turbo blower product by the industry, including wastewater treatment. Starting off the discussion, Omar talks us through his responsibilities as CEO as well as outlining his own leadership style and explaining what techniques he employs in order to get the best out of his team. “Leading by example, my leadership style is participative. In terms of coaching and development – the company is focused on accomplishing results, and is action-oriented. This style has seen me achieve a wealth of success in my time as CEO, as well as me and my team having the ability to think outside of the box, and find solutions to complicated problems. I encourage perseverance as I look to surround myself with very influential partners and good employees.” Profiling his career milestones, Omar is the President of Aviation & Power Group (APG) and operating company APGN, Inc., a Canadian firm responsible for providing sales, distribution, local production and aftermarket services in turbo- machinery and power industry in the western world territory. Contributing to the success of his company, Omar has more than 30 years of experience with the leaders in aerospace and defence industry such as General Electric, United Technologies and SAFRAN group, including seven years in executive positions. He also has experience in providing consultancy services developing Business Models, New Product strategies, commercial policies, aerospace and propulsion technology, service network development, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services and Defence Contracting. Interestingly, his key achievements in this role included developing business strategies to develop new markets and compete on major government programs in North America, Europe, South Africa, Middle East and Asia. Omar has a Graduate Degree in International Business from McGill University in Montreal and a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Ottawa. While previously employed by General Electric he completed the GE Addison Engineering Development Program and enrolled in the Graduate Engineering Program offered by GE and University of Toronto. Internally, Omar has managed to cultivate a thriving working environment which sees staff motivated to deliver the best service they can. He explains why the internal culture of APG-Neuros is integral to the firm’s continuing success. Embedded in the company’s ethos are a variety of values which staff adhere to such as innovation, urgency, and customer responsiveness. “Throughout the company, we lead by example with the daily involvement of the management team in the operation, and by getting involved in the customer cases, we demonstrate as a management team the culture of the company” says Mr. Hammoud. In his concluding comments, Omar predicts what the future holds for both himself and APGN- Neuros, and it is clear that he is excited about the times ahead. Commenting on the challenges that are to come, and the opportunities that he will have to explore, Omar is full of optimism as he looks to continue the company’s pathway to success. “Ultimately, for both myself and the firm, the future looks very promising. For me personally, the future looks full of challenges and that makes me quite excited.
