Acquisition International - Issue 7 2018 43 MCS Cleaning and Maintenance Limited was born in March 2008 to proud parents Tim and Kelly Blacknell. Taking time to provide us with an overview of the firm is Director, Kelly Blacknell who goes into detail about the exceptional services MCS offers clients. stablished in 2008, MCS Cleaning and Maintenance Limited was created with the purpose to provide quality reliable cleaning and support services to the region. As a team, we feel very privileged to be receiving The Best Cleaning Company Award for the East Midlands, it especially makes all the hard work and dedication worth every minute. Our ethos is “If you look after your staff, your staff will look after you”. As such, we enjoy praising our staff and encouraging pride in their work to get the maximum effort out of their everyday tasks. We have employee of the month, we have an Easter egg drop and at Christmas, we enjoy a few days of a coffee and cake drop in round the Christmas tree where everyone can pop in and catch up with us and receive a Christmas gift. MCS is a Contract Cleaning and Maintenance Company supplying cleaning and maintenance to all sectors from quarries and brick yards to offices and schools along with residential homes. We find the care of our team goes a long way with our clients new and old which we will never fail to deliver and each one is a person and not a number on a spread sheet. In addition to this, we keep in close communication with our clients to keep that personal touch, to ensure that they feel they can approach us if things need tweaking and we can approach them if we see a better way of achieving the result for them. Recently, we have found the cleaning industry has taken a turn for the better and an increase of interest is coming from the schools as they are choosing to opt out of their local council to supply cleaning and opting for the private sector business. As such, this has made a big impact on our business so far this year, and it has been an interesting change from the standard office cleaning of late. One of the most important things we have learnt in the last 10 years - yes, it’s our 10th Anniversary this year from setting up our business on our last £50 note, and now have 136 employees - is to listen. Listen to both your clients and your staff as you will learn a great deal from doing this. It only benefits and improves the business overall. The only challenge Tim and I have had to face that has been difficult this year, is discovering our youngest daughter has an incurable muscle wasting condition called Muscular Dystrophy. This condition affects the arms, legs, heart and lungs. As you can imagine, this was a huge shock and placed quite a strain on us whilst trying to run MCS. However, our staff and clients have been incredibly caring and kind as they are helping us as a family to get through it. They have done endless fundraising for MDUK a charity trying to find a cure and love Jess to bits. Our future at MCS is to increase the number of job opportunities to our local region and to continue to deliver the excellent service that all our clients deserve. Moving forward, we are looking to add on another key service of grounds maintenance to our services over the next year so watch this space. Fresh and Innovative Approach to the Service Industry
