strong function to give it the attention it deserved. She maintained a hybrid accounting and tax role as ultimately tax isn’t where her passion lies; her interest remains in accounting. Becoming Group Financial Controller and Group Treasurer, and still Head of Tax, by 2016, she found herself managing a bigger team, and soon became involved in fundraising. Vineta says, “I fundraised senior secured notes, unsecured notes, equity raises, and revolving credit facilities. I basically raised over £2 billion for the business. But I learnt on the job as I’d never raised money before.” Impressive! And it doesn’t stop there. Three years later, Vineta became Finance Director, reporting to the CFO and, by that point, she was helping Ocado achieve incredible heights. She tells us, “My team lead a very large transformation on bringing in Oracle Fusion. Through all this, I’d supported the transition of the business from a pure play retailer to a large technology and automation provider for online grocery. We’d gone from a FTSE 250 business to a FTSE 50 business. I joined a £500 million business; today, its revenue is £2.5 billion. We were in the UK; it now operates in 10 countries around the world.” Online Grocery CFO of the Year 2023 (UK): Vineta Bajaj Here we are in present day, where Vineta has already accomplished such an extraordinary career, and she is now living the dream as CFO for Rohlik Group – using her industry leading-expertise in online retail and finance to help the company go far.
