50 Acquisition International - Issue 9 2018 Supporting a wide range of riders of all ages and abilities, Cooley Equestrian Centre draws on the expertise of its staff to offer great support to its clients. Having recognised the centre as Riding School of the Year 2018 – Ireland in our prestigious Business Excellence Awards we invited Gillian Doherty to talk us through the services it provides. ince its inception in 2000, Cooley Equestrian Centre assists a range of riders of every level, helping them to improve their technique and enhance their skills. Gillian talks in more detail about the series that the centre provides for every rider it welcomes. “Personally, I firmly believe that any rider can be a super star as long as they have a firm, basic skill foundation, the rest is unfortunately down to circumstance and luck. From this core, at Cooley Equestrian Centre we are then blessed with the right place, and the right ponies, and the right team of help, to also indulge in our love of therapeutic riding. To facilitate all ages and ranges and dynamics of both physical and mental challenges to experience the magical touch of horses. Even if only the once for some. Then from that we have our holiday riders, those who can ride, to those who just want to see our beautiful Inishowen from horseback, as well as those who are just looking for that one off, safe experience. We know the partners (horses) we work with inside out, their strengths, weaknesses, limitations. and we blend everything as best we can, with a healthy respect for the fact that we work with the combination of general public, animals, and weather. One can but strive for every performance to equal the last, as what may be our 100th, is often our clients first. And always have a contingency plan. As a result, we have an umbrella, a format, but most of our work is fairly tailor made. And we are open always to the reality that we may get it wrong.” “I am delighted, to say the very least, for the centre getting this award. But I am even more delighted for the for the kids that help, I am so grateful that all the effort and heart they put in is recognised – and not just the current crew, the crews that inspired them before, and the crews they will inspire in the future, if were spared.” Thanks to Gillian’s passion for horses, which she has been around from a young age, Cooley Equestrian Centre looks set for a bright future, with Gillian and her team set to welcome even more valued riders. “Cooley Equestrian Centre looks set for a bright future, with Gillian and her team set to welcome even more valued riders.”
