It is no secret that law enforcement and the general public in the United States have clashed numerous times, whether over decisions made or how those decisions were executed. There have been movements to hold law enforcement accountable for their actions and decisions. Whilst these serious misjudgements are but a fraction of a community that strives to keep people safe, Darron Spencer and his work as Humane Policing is still unrelenting in pursuing better ways of taking care of people across America. Darron’s diverse background allows him to relate to everyone, regardless of their age, race, gender, or socio-economic status. Prior to founding Humane Policing, Darron lived it as a belief and mantra whilst serving in the patrol division for only twenty months before a debilitating condition ended his career abruptly. During those twenty months, Darron handled more than 250 cases that resulted in 40 felony and 74 misdemeanor arrests. He personally wrote 57 warrantless arrest affidavits, 7 arrest warrants, 2 production of records, and a single search warrant. Darron assisted in 4 death investigations and booked in more than 150 items of evidence. Cases were forwarded to the military, FBI, ATF, DEA, the Gang Task Force, ICE, the Drug Task Force, and various local agencies. His short but brilliant career saw him awarded the Deputy of the Year, and receive the Ribbon of Merit. However, there is one statistic that Darron is most proud of. Over ninety percent of the individuals that Darron arrested, ended up thanking him. His deeply humane approach to his work saw him have tremendous success in gaining cooperation and assistance from career criminals whilst investigating his cases. This unique perspective led to an even more unique approach to law enforcement, which would come to be called Humane Policing. Now, following that condition that forced Darron to retire, his goal has become to travel around the United States, meeting with his brothers and sisters in blue, to share his perspective and approach to Humane Policing. His core belief is that Humane Policing will not only make carrying out duties easier, but over time will also improve the relationship between the police and the communities they serve. Ultimately, Humane Policing can improve the public image of law enforcement on a national scale. Armed with this knowledge, insight, and experience, Darron is in a unique position to effect real change across law enforcement in the United States. As relationships and tensions worsen between police officers and the communities they are supposed to protect, a new S Police culture has come under fire in the United States for a long time. Policies and practices alike have demonstrated themselves to be wrong, and sow immense distrust amongst the American people. However, one man and former police officer is on a mission to change that. We find out more about Darron’s unrelenting pursuit of transformation, to restore the public’s confidence in police. A More Humane Approach approach is needed. A more humane approach; one that sees the community as something to be preserved and protected against violence, injustice, and cruelty, no matter the colour of those living there.
