The Association for International Arbitration (AIA) is a non-profit organization open to all those interested in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), irrespective of nationality and level of experience.
Since its creation in 2001, AIA strives to bring together the global community in the field of ADR and to promote ADR. AIA also regularly organises conferences and seminars on the wide range of ADR issues in Belgium and we are actively involved in the organisation of various educational events internationally. Moreover, they organise tailored trainings on ADR topics.

Future of Mediation in Belgium (FMB) Event – 15th of May
This session will focus on the assignment which the Belgian Ministry of Justice granted to the FMB committee, which consists of: identifying existing initiatives related to mediation; proposing regulatory intervention measures on mediation; and proposing a comprehensive action plan for mediation.

Joint Event with the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and the Brussels Diplomatic Academy – ISDS: A Way Forward, 27th of May

Qualifying Assessment Program approved by the International Mediation Institute 2015
The AIA is pleased to host, for the third consecutive year, the Qualifying Assessment Program (QAP) approved by the International Mediation Institute (IMI). IMI is unique as it is the only organization in the world to cultivate global, professional standards for experienced mediators, advocates and others involved in the field of ADR. In addition, lMI convenes stakeholders, promotes understanding and disseminates skills all in a non-service provider capacity.

AIA Brussels Arbitration School
AIA Brussels Arbitration School was created to address the increasing demand for specialised teaching in arbitration. It is a five day intensive and complete crash course on arbitration which rewards it’s participants with an ABAS arbitrator certificate. The curriculum of the program is conceived by arbitration experts and is aimed at lawyers, in-house counsels, experts and other Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioners from around the globe.
