The First of Sage Copilot’s Features Have Been Released

Sage’s AI productivity assistant, Sage Copilot, has been through an extended period of testing and refinement since it was first made available to early adopters.
With the launch of Sage Intacct 2025 R1, all Sage Intacct users can now access the first available functionality within Sage Copilot – Variance Analysis.
But there’s more to come. Read on for the latest developments on Sage Copilot.
What is Sage Copilot?
Sage Copilot integrates generative AI directly into the Sage platform, designed to enhance day-to-day operations by streamlining routine tasks, delivering useful insights, and offering timely recommendations. Much like a co-pilot in aviation, Sage Copilot is there to support you and help steer your business forward.
Dan Miller, EVP Financials & ERP Division at Sage, summed up the goals for Copilot:
“Speaking with customers on a daily basis, it’s clear that time is their most valuable commodity. It isn’t just about driving more efficiency, it’s about giving them space to focus on moving their business forward and driving growth. These latest updates are about putting more time in their hands.”
Sage Copilot Features
Available Now: Variance Analysis
Variance Analysis is now fully available, giving finance leaders tools to proactively monitor discrepancies and address budget concerns throughout the month – not just at month-end.
How it works:
• Automatically monitors budget and prior-period variances
• Alerts users when actuals exceed set budgets
• Provides direct links to relevant reports for easy review
• Visuals such as charts and graphs offer a clear snapshot of financial performance
This functionality aims to reduce the time spent tracking budget variances and allows issues to be addressed promptly.
Coming Soon: Search Help
Sage Intacct is a powerful and comprehensive system, which can sometimes mean users need guidance on how to perform certain tasks.
Search Help allows users to ask Copilot questions about using the system and receive straightforward answers quickly. This helps reduce the time spent searching documentation or reaching out to support, enabling users to stay focused on their work.
The feature is being introduced gradually. The initial phase is included in 2025 R1, with wider availability planned in upcoming releases.
Early Adopter: Close Assistant
Close Assistant provides a consolidated view of the close status across all entities and subledgers, offering clarity on which steps have been completed and which are still outstanding.
It also includes shortcuts to the relevant sections of the system, helping users save time on common month-end activities.
At present, Close Assistant is only available to early adopters. Feedback from these users is helping Sage refine the functionality to better meet user needs ahead of broader release.
Sage Copilot & PKF SCS
The release has created a buzz in PKF Smith Copper Systems‘ Intacct team, and they’re very excited to see Sage Copilot in action.
Sage Intacct Product Lead, Sam Pidgeon, shared his thoughts:
“We’ve seen generative AI functions creeping into Sage Intacct over the past couple of years through GL Outlier Detection, Intelligent Time and AP Automation. Copilot is another big step for Sage along this journey with huge potential, I’ve no doubt it will help customers make quicker decisions, save time, and drive growth – I’m intrigued to see how it evolves – watch this space!”
Sage Copilot will continue to evolve, and more features will become available for more users in the future. In the meantime, let us be your copilot. If you need help with Sage Intacct, our team of experts is happy to answer your questions.
